About the artist

Hello, I’m Rach.

My life has been shaped by landscapes - wide deserts, restless oceans, quiet bush tracks - and by the stories held within them. Living and working across Australia and beyond has given me a deep reverence for nature, culture, and the subtle connections between people and place.

I hold a PhD in Marine Ecology, and my career has taken me into some of the most extraordinary environments on earth. While science taught me how to observe the natural world, painting and writing became the ways I learned to truly listen to it.

I work predominantly in oils, drawn to the medium for its depth, movement, and patience. My paintings are guided by light, mood, and memory rather than literal representation. Alongside each work, I write poetry and short pieces that sit in conversation with the image - adding depth, story, and an emotional undercurrent that invites the viewer to linger.

Art runs deep in my family, spanning generations, and I paint under my maiden name in honour of that legacy. Storytelling sits at the heart of my practice, whether through paint or words, with each piece holding a quiet narrative and a sense of familiarity that resonates beyond the canvas.

I live in Mount Pleasant, near Dayboro in South East Queensland, where the land continues to inform my work daily. This place - raw, changing, and deeply grounding - is both my home and my greatest source of inspiration.
